Care Instructions

Best Care Practices for the Entrust Artista CR805

Clean the printer with an isopropanol cleaning card every time you change the ink ribbon, or more often if needed, to help maintain print quality and reliable card transport.

When running a cleaning cycle, remove the ink ribbon and retransfer film cartridges, remove the cleaning sleeve, and take all blank cards out of the hopper first. Handle cards by the edges or wear card inspection gloves to avoid contamination.

Use the cleaning card immediately after opening the package, as the isopropanol cleaning card can dry out if it is left out for more than a few minutes.

After the cleaning cycle is complete, discard the used cleaning card and install a new cleaning sleeve before reloading ribbon, film, and cards. Entrust also recommends a cleaning cycle cadence at each ribbon swap to help ensure consistent operation.

Use the included printhead cleaning tool and follow the printer’s printhead cleaning procedure whenever required, especially if you notice print quality issues. Entrust also provides operator procedures for cleaning the printhead and printhead cam rollers as part of routine maintenance.

Keep the printer on a stable surface, connect it to a grounded power source, and maintain the recommended operating temperature and humidity conditions in the printer area. A clean, dry workspace with adequate lighting is also recommended for safe operation and maintenance.

Do not attempt to operate or repair the printer without adequate training, and always unplug the system before servicing.

Expanded Modularity + Card Flexibility

Designed for more advanced credential programmes, the Artista CR805 supports modular options including lamination, tactile impression, multi-hopper capacity, and smart card capabilities. It can also print on a range of card materials including PVC, PVC composite, PET, and PC, giving organisations greater flexibility as needs evolve

Built-In Security + Long-Lasting Cards

The Artista CR805 includes Entrust’s issuance security architecture, with features such as Secure Boot, TPM-managed certificates, encrypted communication, and data that is not stored after printing. Pigment ink, retransfer film, and optional lamination also improve durability, helping cards resist UV fading, abrasion, and premature replacement.

Does it come with a warranty?

Yes. The Entrust Artista CR805 includes a 36‑month (3‑year) manufacturer’s warranty covering the printer and printhead, giving you dependable protection for day-to-day ID card issuance. Warranty terms apply under normal use and recommended consumables/maintenance.

Does it come with consumables?

The Entrust Artista CR805 is typically supplied without print consumables such as ribbons and blank cards, so you can choose the ribbon type that best matches your card design and volume requirements. The box contents generally include essentials such as the power supply/cables, USB cable, and basic cleaning items (e.g., cleaning swabs) to help you get started and maintain print quality.

How do I set up the printer once i get it?

Setting up the Entrust Artista CR805 is straightforward. Start by placing the printer on a stable surface, connecting it to a grounded power source, and powering it on using the front panel. The printer should reach a “Ready” status before you continue.

Before printing, Entrust recommends running the isopropanol cleaning card included with the printer. Then install the ink ribbon onto the blue C1 cartridge, fit the cleaning sleeve (C3), install the retransfer film onto the yellow C2 cartridge, and load cards into the input hopper.

For software setup, download the latest CR805 driver from entrust.com/cr805-support. If you plan to connect the printer by USB, do not plug in the USB cable until the driver tells you to do so. If you are installing over Ethernet, connect the network cable to the printer and network, then complete the driver setup using the same connection type that will be used going forward. The CR805 supports either USB or Ethernet, but not both at the same time.

Once installation is complete, you can use the front panel to print a test card and confirm that the printer, supplies, and card stock are all set up correctly. From Ready, press the USER button, press ENTER, go to Maintenance, select Test Card, and then Start.
